Hi Everybody,

In December we contacted you about the Voscur run 'Give One In, Get
One Back' project. This project now has less than a month to run so if
you are still undecided about what to do with your old equipment,
there is still time. In the meantime we are evaluating the success of
the project and how it was promoted, so it would be really useful to
get your impressions of the service, even if you didn't engage with

Hi,

I think it's time we stopped referring to broadband and just spoke in
terms of bandwidth these days. Saying that an organisation has broadband
is completely ambiguous now. It would be better to survey the region in
bands like they are in the tables of the attached article.

I wonder if there have been any geographic surveys done on this basis.

Here are very quick updates on:

'It was "priceless"; wonderful to meet and discuss with like minded people
who collectively had such a wealth of experience,' commented one of the
participants at our Worcester workshop. Thanks to everyone who came and made
it a big success. There are still spaces on the workshop at Bath Central

The website is due to be launched after Easter and soon after that you'll be
able to register your Events.

Your first piece of resource will be a comprehensive Event Holders' Planning
Guide, indispensable for the planning of your Event and associated
activities.
After that comes your
Media Pack, with template Press Release and free-use pictures.

The exciting Learning Zone modules will start loading nearer to SSD itself,
35+ easily-
digestible learning guides for use by learners and with learners, on
everything from the basics of computer use to podcasting. But we'll supply
the full content list and preview a selection early on to get those learning
juices flowing.

As usual, you'll get a 'proper' e-zine from me to tell you when all this
comes online.

How to Run a Silver Surfers' Day Event: workshop in Bath Central
Library: Wednesday, April 9

>From 1.30 to 4pm  at Bath Central Library.

Workshop is aimed at anyone (from any organisation or business, commercial
or non-profit, or any individual) who wants some extra support and
inspiration, to run Silver Surfers' Day Events on or around May 23, 2008.

Cost is GBP25 for one person; GBP45 for two from the same organisation.

with Bath Workshop in the subject line.

This invaluable 'mini-workshop' will walk you through the various tasks
associated with running a successful Silver Surfers' Day Event/s, large or
small. There will be a 45-minute presentation from Digital Unite with advice
on how to plan, who you need to have in place, how to publicise, how to use
the Learning Modules online, how to give your over-50s visitors the best
experience possible.
This is a space of time for you to think and create, as well as to receive
ideas and advice.

You will leave equipped with information and energy to organise and deliver
an Event that will be pleasureable as well as productive for visitors and
organisers alike.

It will give you a chance to meet other potential event-holders and share
best practice.

Timing will be from 1.30-4pm with a break for tea and time for networking.

Silver Surfers' Day is managed by Digital Unite in partnership with Ofcom,
and is part of Adult Learners' Week.
