Can I also ask that you make contact with Intercom Trust here in SW to engage them in the LGBT perspective for this event - they have been a good working contact for me over the past few years. Perhaps we could have a chat next week about your plans and look forward to working together in early 2008. The local organisation which I have worked with over the years on LGBT issues is the Intercom Trust and so you may also want to make contact with them if you haven't done so already. Please bear in mind that there are already many events planned in SW between January and end of March - and lots focussing on ICT, so it might be a good idea to try and work alongside an event which is already in the diary rather than try to come up with another date - but please have a think and we can talk next week. The aim of the project is to 1) find out what use of ICT LGBT VCOs make, and 2) to identify any gaps in knowledge where ICT Hub can help. We are holding a series of focus groups consultation events to find out the above, and then from there will run a series of workshops in each region to signpost people to the www.icthub.org.uk and highlight some of the help the ICT Hub can provide. I was wondering if you would be able to e-mail me, and then I could forward a flyer with information about the focus group events. If you could pass this information onto anyone you think might be interested then that would be a great help. It is aimed at voluntary sector groups and the professionals that server them across the South West of England. The day will include speakers from the National ICT Hub and Bristol City Council, workshops and demonstrations from Circuit Riders, organisations and companies already using or helping groups with implementing free software solutions from across the region nationally. Attendance is free, but registration is necessary and the organisers are keen to make the event as relevant possible to attendees, by tailoring the day to a non-technical audience, keen to make savings on software licensing and administration and ongoing support. The group has so far consisted of myself, Rupert, Chris Pickering and Jaclyn, with Sado, Miki and Paul W attending some meetings to provide additional support/input where needed. The decision to run this sub-group is recorded in the full group minutes and meetings have been held three or four times now. The SW ICT Group of which we are all members, is meeting on 21st February at the Albermarle Centre Taunton as per Sado's email. Hope this is helpful. As you can see from the attached brochure we have lined up a range interesting and stimulating speakers, workshops and supporters to ensure that this event proves really worthwhile for organisations attending. Support for the event is also being offered by SWRDA, BT and RuralNet UK. Please can I ask you all to promote the event as widely as possible across your own contact networks. Please feel free to forward the attached flyer, and if you prefer to receive printed copies then please let me know and I will organise accordingly. There is an online link to the flyer and booking form too - http://icthub.org.uk/events/ict_hub_conference_for_organisations_working_wit h_rural_groups.html Could you also let organisations know that subsidies are available for accommodation the night before the event for those travelling a long way, and also for net:gain delegates (past and present) there are also subsidies for accommodation, travel and booking fees. We are also putting together an excellent delegate pack with lots of free resources and materials for delegates to utilise after the event. I am happy to help with any questions about the event and in the coming weeks I will be putting together press releases and other promotional material and would be happy to incorporate features on any particular organisation attending the event to add to their PR. Just let me know!
