Perhaps we could have a chat next week about your plans and look forward to working together in early 2008. The local organisation which I have worked with over the years on LGBT issues is the Intercom Trust and so you may also want to make contact with them if you haven't done so already. Please bear in mind that there are already many events planned in SW between January and end of March - and lots focussing on ICT, so it might be a good idea to try and work alongside an event which is already in the diary rather than try to come up with another date - but please have a think and we can talk next week. If you have received this e-mail in error please notify the sender and delete the original message from your system Hi Julie, I'm leading an ICT project for the Consortium of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) Voluntary and Community Organisations (VCOs), on behalf of the ICT Hub. The aim of the project is to 1) find out what use of ICT LGBT VCOs make, and 2) to identify any gaps in knowledge where ICT Hub can help. We are holding a series of focus groups consultation events to find out the above, and then from there will run a series of workshops in each region to signpost people to the www.icthub.org.uk and highlight some of the help the ICT Hub can provide. I was wondering if you would be able to e-mail me, and then I could forward a flyer with information about the focus group events. If you could pass this information onto anyone you think might be interested then that would be a great help. Many thanks, and kind regards, Tim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The enquiry is regarding the Brewardine and Brobury village website. At present there are two volunteers who work on this but they would like to meet with an organisation who uses "Webit" so they can observe and improve the site. They have had a quick chat with Jackie (Carey) but this has not progressed. Do you know of any organisations that may be of any help???? I have attached the application form for info. Would be great if more VCS orgs used and understood the value of RSS. Maybe some simple training sessions/guides on using live bookmarks and feedreaders is something we could produce locally for VCO's? Only last week I compiled a Netvibes RSS page for our info worker of all the relevant national VCS orgs to pull all their news and updates into one easy place. I was shocked to discover that not many national orgs used RSS at all, even though producing regular news and information. At least now on the SHCVS collection of VCS RSS feeds (using Netvibes as our reader), we have an additional bookmark widget with all the bookmarks to the other relevant sites (that should really use RSS!) to help our worker keep on top of information! We use RSS here at South Hams CVS. When we update our news section (okay - not that often only once or twice a month!) those interested, such as funders, members, partners and supporters that use RSS Readers and Live Bookmarks can keep up to date easily with our news. Works very well for us and had good feedback on it. Highly recommend to those looking into the time saving ability of using RSS to check out the Commoncraft's fun 3.5 minute video which can be found at: http://www.commoncraft.com/rss_plain_english (and you can see an explanation about using RSS on my personal blog (includes the Commoncraft video too!) at: http://laura.popokatea.co.uk/what-is-rss/) Rant over!
