Apologies if this ends up sent twice.. The initial version did not seem to turn
up, I recieved no bounce notification either..
Given the tight time line I thought it was worth re-sending.
As many of you will know we have been working on a custom way to install Debian
Linux as detailed here
http://www.bristolwireless.net/wiki/index.php/Debian%20Linux
The project is still in it's early stages (beta). We have got it to the stage
where someone familiar with Linux could set it up by following the instructions
here http://www.bristolwireless.net/wiki/index.php/MetaPackagesAndRepos
Basically you do a base install of Debian, alter the sources list and then get
our package.
We have an event on Weds and we would like to be able to give away live CD's of
this set-up to people as a demonstration (they would not need to be able to
install the system from the CD, only to try it out).
It seems there are several ways of creating such a live CD.
1, http://wiki.debian.org/DebianLive/Howto/ISO_%28multimedia%29
2, http://www.gnewsense.org/Builder/HowToCreateYourOwnGNULinuxDistribution
3, http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/english/saiba-tutor.html
I was planning to experiment with these myself but I am now doing a funding
application to a tight deadline and do not have the time to spare..
If anyone could create an ISO of our desktop set-up by Tuesday evening that
would be a great help, if not we can just give out Debian + XFCE CD's
http://live.debian.net/weekly-builds/20070212/i386/
happy hacking..
thanks
Sam
